Opus Kink have announced their debut album.
Helmed by Grammy-winning producer and mixer Craig Silvey, with engineering by Dani Spragg, 'The Sweet Goodbye' will arrive through So Recordings on July 31, following up the Brighton sextet's two previous EPs, 2022's '’Til The Stream Runs Dry' and 2023's 'My Eyes, Brother!'. It will include their 2025 single I'm a Pretty Showboy.
Alongside the news, the band have shared the album's lead single, Come Over, Do Me Wrong, which serves up their signature brooding, jazz and country-inflected indie and punk fusion. Frontman Angus Rogers said:
"Half of any good thing is its proximity to its end; half of any good thing is the reason it cannot be yours. Come Over, Do Me Wrong is a song about the hallucinogenic qualities of a doomed love affair and its toxic allure, the mad philosophical leap of ‘I don’t care what you do as long as you do it to me."
As well as new music, Opus Kink have announced a UK and European tour for the autumn, which includes their biggest headline performance to date at London's O2 Forum Kentish Town on November 26.
They also have mostly festival dates scheduled in the UK and France this spring and summer, including a slot at Bearded Theory in Derbyshire in May and a performance at Rochester Castle supporting The Libertines on July 4.
Tickets for their new autumn shows go on general sale at 10am local time on Thursday (April 2). Their spring and summer dates are on sale now.
